Do you Act? Sing? Do you want to act or sing?
Pleasure Dome Theatre Company are delighted to be returning to the Valley of Rocks this summer with their contribution to the Lorna Doone Festival. They will be reviving and redeveloping their 2017 hit production of Lorna Doone. Expect stunning scenery, beautiful costumes, atmospheric music and pure drama as we bring R.D Blackmoore's classic romance to life in the breath-taking Valley of Rocks.
We will be holding open auditions at Lynton Town Hall to find local performers who would like to be a part of this production. There are two sessions on Sunday the 28th of April. 10:00-1:00 and 2:00-5:00. These will be informal work-shop style auditions where we will do some text work, some physical work and some music from the show. We hope that it should be a fun and enjoyable way into our process and as much an opportunity for prospective performers to see whether this is a project, they’d like to be part of, as it is to help us cast.
You must have good availability from the 5th of August and be completely free in the evenings for the run opening on the 20th of August till the 31st performing every night other than Monday with Sunday matinées. Working at the Valley of Rocks is tiring but we hope to provide a valuable and exciting experience as well. Here is what a cast member said of our 2017 show: “My appreciation goes to you and your team - we were made to feel welcome and treated as equals. There are stories out there of how professionals don't like acting with amateurs, but your company is different. Scott was a great combination of open and friendly with that professional intention of constant improvement - this permeated the whole production. I learned a lot from the rehearsals and the support of those behind the scenes and the openness of the actors made the performances enjoyable.”
If this sounds like something you’d relish, please email and specify which session, morning or afternoon you want to attend. We really look forward to hearing from you. Helena Payne, Creative Director.
